From Cavers in the parish of Bowden, Roxburghshire. William de Caueris was juror on inquest made in Edinburgh in 1402 (Egidii, p. 38). Thomas Caveris was witness in Lythqw in 1444 and 1472 (Sc. Ant., XVII, p. 115,119), and a later Thomas Caveris was burgess there in 1531 (Johnsoun, 5). William Cavers had a grant of part of land of Mukdrum, 1503, and three years later Dionisius Cavers exchanged part of Mukdrum for other property (RMS,, II, 2758, 2985). Dionisius Caweris who held land in Perth 1535, appears in 1546 as Dionese Cavers, witness there (Rollak, 116, 2). William Cavers was tenant of Neubattle Abbey in 1563 (Neubotle, p. 327).
