In Brazil, and particularly in the state of Goiás, there are records of people born during the XVIII century named "Caiado" and "Cayado".
In Portuguese, caiado comes from the verb, caiar, which means painting a wall with whitewash/lime paint. However, it is not clear whether there is an actual link between the Caiado surname and this verb.
