Adam Cessfurde was bailie of the burgh of Hawick in 1558 (Wilson, Annals of Howick, p. 328,330), Gavin Cesfuird in Westhouses, 1641 (RRM., I, p. 85), Thomas Cesfoord in Tron Kirk parish signed the Test, 1685 (RPC., 3. ser. X, p. 457), and James Cessfoord, tailor in Edinburgh, was heir of George Cessford, writer in Edinburgh in 1699 (Inquis., 8076). Cesfurd 1696, Cessfuird 1671.
