In the troublous year of 1645, there were sequestrated in this county an estate in Whitchurch Canonicorum belonging to Mr. William Chilcot, and the impropriation called St. Luke's, in the parish of Burton Bradstock, belonging to Lieutenant - Colonel Chilcott; this last fell into the hands of a Mr. Chilcott in 1650, who afterwards sold it (H.). Chilcott is the name of a tithing in Somerset, and there are places named Chilcote in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
