Probably from Clas, a diminutive of Nicholas. Payment to Johannes Clayson at mandate of chamberlain, 1328 (ER., I, p. 101). Katherine Clasone in Fossoquhy, parish of Logie, 1615 (Stirling). James Clasone was prisoner in Canongate Tolbooth, Edinburgh, 1684 (RPC., 3. ser. X, p. 352). Four persons named Clasone are recorded in Coldhome, parish of Logie, in the seventeenth century (Dunblane). James Clawson was indweller in Bathgait, 1688 (Edin. App.).
