A surname confined almost exclusively to the shire of Aberdeen, and long common in the district of Pitsligo. Patrick Club was one of the 'appretiatores carnium' in Aberdeen in 1398 (CRA., p. 375). William Club was admitted burgess of Aberdeen in 1444 (NSCA., I, p. 9), and Thomas Club held land there in 1451 (ibid., II, p. 297). Sir Andrew Club was chaplain of the browne croice altar in 1475 (CRA., p. 33), and Alexander Club was a witness in the same burgh in 1489 (REA., II, p. 303). David Club held land in Aberdeen about the year 1530 (REA., II, p. 232). John Club or Clwb was bewitched in Aberdeen in 1576 (SCM., I, p. 87), Edward Club was tenant and shoemaker in Dibbieshill in 1696 (Jervise, II, p. 401), James Club of Westfield of Airth is recorded in 1757 (Stirling), and Andrew Club in Upper Bracco died in 1710 (Jervise, II, p. 400).
