Collick Surname Meaning

From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Probably Colwick, co, Nottingham.

Patronymica Britannica (1860) by Mark Antony Lower

"Mr. Collick was treasurer of the Middlesex Hospital, in England, in 1805" (Bowditch). "Probably," says Lower, "from Colwick co. Nottingham." Ferguson considers Collick a diminutive of Cole, Coley, Colla, and the Northern names Kollr, Koli, Kolli, found in the Landnamabok; from Anglo-Saxon col, Old Norse kollr, a helmet; but this name is rather a diminutive of Coll, for Nichol, from Nicholas.

Ludus Patronymicus (1868) by Richard Stephen Charnock
