Of common origin with the Ducs de Coigni in France. The ancestor was chamberlain to Isabella of France, and accompanied her to England on her marriage with king Edw. II. The English family's armorial coat is identical with that of the present Duc de Coigni. Gent. Mag. May, 1859.
