(New England), Cole-field. Cowel, cole, colewort. A name derived from Cowling or Cooling, co. Suffolk. The will of Thomas Colynge, of Arrington, co. Cambridge, was proved in 1495. From him descended John Coolidge, who emigrated to Watertown, and was a Representative in 1658.
