From the occupation, ME. corser, corsere, or courser, 'a horse dealer.' Agnes Corser was "delaited for bearing ane burden of clothes on the Lordis day," 1661 (Rec. Elgin, II, p. 292). David Cosser in Touchgorme, 1663, reappears in 1683 as David Corser in Touchgorme, parish of St. Ninian (Stirling). John A. Corsar from Auchterless was killed in the Erst Great War (Turriff). The old family of Courser or Corser (Corseir of that Ilk in Workman MS.) have three coursers (running horses) in their arms (Nisbet, I, p. 306).
