I think Corscadden is a synonym of Garscadden, which is an old English surname formed from the root word gart a field (cf. Irish gort). Apart from the Dublin district Corscadden is found in Co. Leitrim and I have met it, and also Garscadden, in Ulster; but I know of no reference to it before the beginning of the nineteenth century.

I think Corscadden is a synonym of Garscadden, which is an old English surname formed from the root word gart a field (cf. Irish gort). Apart from the Dublin district Corscadden is found in Co. Leitrim and I have met it, and also Garscadden, in Ulster; but I know of no reference to it before the beginning of the nineteenth century. Possibly Cuscadden is a variant form. Dr. G. Cuscaden (1857-1933), the notable Melbourne surgeon, was born at Wexford.
