Walter de Karel witnessed a charter by Alexander filius Walteri, the Steward, 1246 (RMP., p. 87), and Adam de Karal was a canon of St. Andrews, 1280 (Pop. Lett., I, p. 462). Richard de Karale was prepositus of Karale, 1330 (ER., I, p. 265), Walter de Carale witnessed a donation by Henry de Aynestrother to the Abbey of Dryburgh, c. 1330 (Dryburgh, 252), and Symon de Krael was succentor of Urquhart, 1343 (Rose, p. 117).
