CRAILING: From Crailing in the parish of the same name in Roxburghshire. Peter de Cralyng witnessed a confirmation charter by John filius Hugh de Reueden c. 1250 (Kelso, 508). William de Crelinge, king's tenant in Peeblesshire, rendered homage in 1296, as also did Richard de Creling of Lanarkshire (Bain, II, p. 202,204). Richard of Cralein appears again in record in 1304 (REG., p. 217).
