Alexander Crom (Cromy, or Crome) had his office of tochdoreschip (tochoderatus) annulled, 1477 (SCM., IV p. 135). A bond of manrent was given by Alexander Crome of Inuerernane in 1503 binding himself to become a 'lele trew mane and seruande' to the earl of Huntly (SCM., IV, p. 192). He is probably Alexander Crom Matcalonnen, whose office of tochdoreship was ordered to be rendered to the kin of Donald Crum Mc Cownane in 1532 (Trials, 11). Donald Crome Mc Ranald vane had a precept of remission in 1542 (RSS., II, 4454). John Croume appears in Pykertoune of Corstoune, 1610, and Margaret Cromb in Blackburne, 1666 (Brechin). Payment made to Patrick Crome in Fife, 1684 (PSAS., LIV, p. 239). Cromb, Crombie, and Crommie are common names in Glenlivet. See under Crum.
