CROSTONE: Perhaps from Croston, Lancashire. There is, however, a Cross-stone near Broughton, Peeblesshire. Andrew de Crostone of Linlithgowshire rendered homage, 1296. His seal bears a rude cross patee, S' Andrie Orstvn (Bain, II, p. 201,534). The seal of Gilbert Crouston, 1573, is described by Macdonald (575).
