Tra i tanti titoli nobiliari vi era il titolo di 'Nobiluomo' che era un titolo nobiliare che prevedeva nello stemma familiare una corona con 5 punte e 5 palle sulle punte della corona, oltre ad altri decori che richiamavano l'effige e la storia della Famiglia. I nobiluomini Coutellais (ancora oggi ci sono le Coutellerie) rifornivano di spade, coltelli l'esercito di Luigi XIV almeno sino alla morte di Luigi XIV avvenuta nel 1715. Molto presumibilmente anche dopo la morte di Luigi XIV continuarono a fornire armi all'esercito francese. Poi con la rivoluzione francese molti nobili hanno temuto per la loro integrità fisica e addirittura per la loro stessa vita e delle loro famiglie con il taglio della testa con la ghigliottina inventata da Robespierre. Dunque molti nobili fuggirono nel 'Regno delle due Sicilie' dove ha regnato dal 1759 al 1816 Re Ferdinando III di Borbone. I Borboni erano francesi e per questo molti nobili francesi si rifugiarono nel 'Regno delle due Sicilie'. Tra questi anche la famiglia di Nobili Coutellais (la pronuncia era 'Cutellé') che vennero iscritti manualmente nei registri dell'anagrafe con cognome Cutellé così come era la pronuncia del cognome. Infatti oggi i nuclei familiari che hanno il cognome Cutellé in Italia, hanno tutte origini calabresi e/o siciliane.
