Jeanna Dawling and Helena Dawling were heirs portioners of James Dawling, burgess of Sowth Queensferrie, their father, 1668 (Retours, Fife, 1024; Retours, Linlithgow, 221). George Daulling, 'skiper in Queinsferie,' was warded in Canongate Tolbooth, Edinburgh, 1684 (BOEC,, IX, p. 117), Mathew Douling, polentarius in Borroustounes, 1691 (Retours, Linlithgow, 272), and Thomas Dauling was retoured heir of Thomas Dauling of Leith, in the lands and barony of Cumnock, Ayr, 1695 (Retours, Ayr, 686).
