My branch is from west Flanders concentrated around a city called Kortrijk ( Short Empire ) where there is an area called "Het Hoge" so either my ancestor was manning a watchtower ( a.k.a Broeltoren ) with a bridge ( Broelbrug or Hoge Brug ) or was from that area in that city.
