Diggin Surname Meaning

From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Ó Duibhginn The Kerry form of the name elsewhere called Duigan and Deegan, q.v. SIF 54

A Guide to Irish Names (1964) by Edward MacLysaght

In dealing with Deegan, the Gaelic-Irish form of which is stated by Woulfe to be Ó Duibhginn, no reference was made to another anglicized form of that name viz. Diggin which is almost peculiar to Kerry and quite numerous in that county. Diggin does not appear to have been used synonymously with either Deegan or Duigan.
