Both these anglicized forms of Ó Duinneacháin are found today in Co. Kerry: there were sixteen families called Deenihan in Kerry in 1911 according to the census of that date; and a 1666 tombstone at Rattoo in that county bears the name Dinighan. The name is that of a small sept located in the barony of Owney, Co. Limerick. In Griffith's Valuation of Co. Cork (1851-3) it appears in small numbers as Denihan, Deenihan and Dynahan.
