Djeordjian Surname Meaning
User-submitted Reference
The Djeordjian surname has a distant antecedent in Armenians who resided in Georgia. From some port in the Black Sea, the ancestors of this family would have fled by barges to the Sea of Marmara during the political and economic crisis that hit that country at the end of the 18th century. But a more recent origin is confirmed, since at the end of the 19th century they were settled in the cities of Gallipoli (Gelibolu) on the European side or Çanakkale on the Asian side. They had to flee again when Turkey organized the Genocide of Armenians starting in 1915. The members of this family finally settle in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they live today.
