Laurence Drone "apud molendinum de Exmagirdill" was retoured heir of Laurence Drone his father, in 1617 (Retours, Fife, 270). The name is common in the Commissariot record of Dunblane from 1621 onwards. Alexander Dron, sailor in Leith, 1677 (Inquis., 6034), and Catharine Dron at Milne of Muckarsie, 1688 (Dunkeld).
