The surname Drumheller is an anglicized version of Trumpfheller. The first immigrant to the US to use the surname Drumheller was Johan Theobald Trumpheller, who arrived at Philadelphia on the ship Neptune in 1751. He appears in church records as Dewalt Drumheller, or sometimes Trumheller. A relative, probably second cousin, Johan Leonhart Trumpfheller, born in 1722 in Germany, arrived in 1754 on the Mary and Sarah. He appears in records as Leonard Drumheller or Trumheller. Both men settled in an area which became Berks County, Pennsylvania. Dewalt moved his family to Williams Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania in about 1760. Leonard migrated to Albemarle County, Virginia in about 1776, leaving two sons and two (probably) daughters in Berks County.
