From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Ó Dubhghusa, anglicized Ducey, Ducy, Ducie and Doocey, though nowhere very numerous, is found mainly in Munster, particularly in Counties Tipperary and Waterford. It occurs 11 times in the Hearth Money Rolls of Co. Tipperary (1665-7); we have not the Hearth Money Rolls for Waterford, but in Griffith's Valuation (c. 1855) for that county there are 21 householders called Doocey. These names occur very rarely in other Irish records, though Ducie does appear occasionally in Great Britain.

The form Doocey has been occasionally reported as in use as a synonym of Duffy in the Milford district of Co. Donegal. I presume that the Co. Roscommon name Dufficey is also a form of Ó Dubhghusa.
