This surname is derived from a geographical locality. 'of Dunkerley.' I cannot find the spot, but it is a surname belonging to Lancashires. The variants are many. It is possible that Dinkley, a township in the parish of Blackburn, is the parent; indeed I may say that it is all but certain.
