The Duttons of Dutton were a very old and distinguished family, and were associated with the township of that name from the time of William the Conqueror to the reign of Charles II. (O.). John and Rowland Dutton, evidently of this family, were two Cheshire gentlemen who contributed £25 a - piece to the Spanish Armada fund in 1588 (Sp.). The Duttons are now numerous in the Nantwich district.
