The original name of the family was Cohen but when Franz Yozef gave the order to change the surname of every Jewish family in Galicia, it was changed to Ehre. The specific Cohen family which was later know as Ehre was a rich family that was favored by Franz Yozef. They paid much tax to him, and so when the order came to change their names they became Ehre, which means 'honor' or 'pride' in German. When some of the Ehre family moved to Israel, half of the family decided to change their surname to Kvodi, which means 'honor' or 'pride' in hebrew.
