It represents MIr. Aife (Book of Leinster, 318c), or Aoife, and in modern Gaelic it is Eubha. Eua, the daughter of Gartnait, was wife of Colban, mormaer of Buchan (Bk, Deer, VI 1). Eva, daughter of Alwyn, second earl of Lennox, was married c. 1217 to Malcolm, son of Duncan, thane of Callendar, from whom sprang the old family of that title (Sc, Veer., V, p. 330). Another Eva was the wife of Robert de Miners (Meyners) in Dunkeld, 1256 (Theiner, 186).
