The family were certainly resident at Eyton, co, Salop, as early as the reigns of Henry I, and II. Shirley's Noble and Gentle Men, p. 190.
A branch of Pantulf, Baron of Wem 1086, from whom Warin, his relative, held Eton or Eyton (Domesd.). Robert de E. was living c. 1170. This family bore the arms of Pantulf quarterly (Eyton, Salop, viii. 27-35).
