FALLASDAILL: An old Dumbartonshire surname Adam Falovisdale witnessed an instrument of sasine in favor of Mathew Stevart, son of John, earl of Lennox, 1490 (Lennox, II, p. 140), and David Fallusdall was one of the sheriffs of King James v in the Lennox, 1513 (ibid., II, p. 208). David Fallisdal was a witness, 1500 (LCD., p. 204), and Thomas Fallusdaill and James Fallusdaill were burgesses of Dunbretan, 1535 (Pollok, I, p. 271). Sir David Fallusdell was priest of the diocese of Glasgow and notary public, 1536 (REO., p. 337), James Fallousdaill was reidare at the kirkis of Zell, 1574 (RMR.), and John Fallisdaill was juror on inquest in Kirkwall, 1554 (REO., p. 162). David Fallausdaill, burgess of Dunbarton, 1589, may have been the David Fallisdaill who was slain in the battle of Glenfruin, 1604 (Trials, II. p. 432). Thomas Fallasdaill of Ardochbeg was burgess of Dumbarton, 1619 (Sasines, 67), and John Fallusdaill, burgess of Dunbartane, was heir of David Fallusdaill, burgess dicti burgi, 1630 (Input's., 1595).
