This surname originated from Ilawe Ekiti. The family house is located at Ijimo in Oke-Emo. Faniku means 'the oracle remains'. It was given by their forefather named Oloniboko after a war he went to and getting home that his properties were destroyed. Despite his house was burnt the Oracle did not burn meaning the only thing that remained was the Oracle (ifa), in Ekiti language it is ifa ni ku.
