The Fidock family (of which I am half), here in South Australia, have problem with producing boys. It therefore meant in my mother's family (her father was a Fidock) their branch ended with him.

Genetically an inability to conceive or keep male pregnancies is often related to a gene mutation that gives rise to a pyrrole disorder.

Fidock Surname Meaning

User-submitted Reference

The Fidock family (of which I am half), here in South Australia, have problem with producing boys. It therefore meant in my mother's family (her father was a Fidock) their branch ended with him.

Genetically an inability to conceive or keep male pregnancies is often related to a gene mutation that gives rise to a pyrrole disorder. Pyrrolurics have depleted zinc and B6 levels, and the lack of zinc in early pregnancy means levels of testosterone in order to maintain a male pregnancy are so low as to not enable the pregnancy to occur or continue. This may explain the very low numbers of Fidocks registered world wide. My daughter has been diagnosed with this pyrrole disorder, so it is plausible she has inherited this condition from them.

I was under the impression Fidock was originally a western German name, yet my mother says the arrival of a Fidock in South Australia was from England in 1837, of which all Fidocks in South Australia are descendants of.
