From the lands of Findon in the parish of Banchory-Devenick, Deeside. In 1281 Philipp de Findvn is party to a record of the division of the lands of Nyg near Aberdeen (RAA, I, p. 164). As Philip de Fyndon or de Fyndoun of the county of Kincardine he rendered homage for his lands in 1296. His seal bears a bald bearded figure, head affronte, above a crescent, and an object protruding from either ear, and S' Phillippi d' Findun (Bain, II, 730,818, and p. 201). The lands of Findon appear to have been forfeited as an annuity from their rents was given by Bruce to John Crab, the Flemish engineer who had distinguished himself against the English at Berwick.
