FINGASK: From Fingask in the parish of Daviot, Aberdeenshire. William de Fingask and John de Fyngask were burgesses of Aberdeen, 1317 (SCM., V, p. 10, II). Thomas de Fingast, canon of Aberdeen and rector of Forbes, 1329 (Pap. Lett., II, p. 299), as Thomas de Fyngaske held the deanery of Brechin and later was appointed to the see of Caithness, 1343 (Pap. Pet., I, p. 15; Dowden, p. 243). Johannes de Fyngask or ffyngask appeers on assizes in 1333—35—41 (REA., I, p. 53, 61, 72), John de Fyngaske was perpetual vicar of Obeyne (Aboyne), 1366 (ibid., II, p. 61), and David Fyngask was provost of Aberdeen, 1333—35, and alderman, 1342 (REA., I, p. 72). William Fingask was admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1494 (NSCM., I, p. 37), Sir Henry Fingask was chaplain at Dunblane, 1547 (Dunblane), and Helen Fin gask is recorded there in 1658 (ibid.). William Fingask or Fingass was member of Scots parliament for Dumfries, 1685 (Hanna, II, p. 493). Fingas 1676, Fyngasc 1343.
