English forms of Gaelic MnrFhionnlaigh, 'son of Finlay,' which see. Brice Fynlawesone of Netbolge, Stirlingshire, rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, p. 205). Duncanus filius Findlai (the Latin form of the name) was one of an inquest held at Banff in 1342 (REA., I, p. 73), and Kessog Findlauson performed like duty at Dunipace in 1426 (Cambus., 87). Andrew Fyndlai (again Latin form) was chaplain in Brechin, 1450 (REB., I, 138).
