From the lands of Fogo in Rerwickshire. Adam de Foghou witnessed the gift by Earl Waldeve to the monks of Melrose of a pasture on Lammermuir c. 1166—82 (Frasers of Philorth, I). William de Foghou was abbot of Melrose in 1310 (Morton, p. 228), Master Richard of Foggowe, parson of Douglas, had letters of safe conduct through England in 1352 (Hof. Scot., l; p. 746,752), John de Fogo appears as abbot of Melrose in 1425 (RMS., II, 31) and confessor to King James i in 1436. Robert de Fogo was bachelor of decrees in Glasgow in 1438 (REG., p. 358), Andrew Fogo was member of an assize at Cupar in 1521 (SCBF., p. 223), John Fogow was sub-chanter of Cupar in 1553 (Cupar-Angus, II,p. 110), William Fogo was secretary to the archbishop of Glasgow in 1554 (Protocols, I), and George Fogo was member of the burgh council of Stirling in 1609 (SBR., p. 286). An action at law was raised against Patrick Fogoe in Bleloch in 1652 (DPD., II, p. 145).
