Fretewell: The Fretewells are now represent in the Chesterfield district. Mrs. Fretchvile of Stanley was of the Derbyshire contributors to the fund collected for a defence of the country at the time of the Spanish invasion in 1588, her donation being £25 (Sp.). Fritwell is the name of an Oxfordshire parish, and a family of De Fretewelle o__ Fretewell resided in that county in the 13th century (H. R.) __ Amongst the Eyam families who suffered heavily during __ plague in 1666 was that of Frith (W.). Samuel Frith, of 1__ Hall, was high sheriff of Derbyshire in 1781 (P.). The name is also established in the Northwich district of Cheshire, and in the county of Somerset.
