FRIARTON: From Friarton near St. Martin's, Perthshire. Roger de Frereton, charter witness in 12th century (RPSA., p. 274). Gilbert de ffertoun or frerton was vicar of Rogortun or Rogortuen in 1414 (Scon, p. 163,165), Walter Freyrton, tenant of part of Denhed, 1510 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 278), and Sir David Freirtoun was vicar pensioner in the Kirk of Alyth in 1534 (Bamff, p. 63).
