A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames (1896) by Charles Wareing Endell Bardsley

This is an old Dublin name. It has been in Co. Dublin continuously since the thirteenth century when John de Fullam held land at Swords in 1294. The family was still there in 1519 when Simon Fullame, yeoman, of Swords, obtained a “pardon”. The numerous wills and other records in which we meet Fullams in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries indicate that they were for the most part merchants in the city of Dublin or farmers in its vicinity, though not confined to Co. Dublin, as the sixteenth and seventeenth century Leinster inquisitions testify. One of the former, Patrick Fullam “woollen draper”, was a member of the Dublin United Irishmen in 1793.
