GATMILK: From Gatmilk, one of the old "shires" of Fife, now Goatmilk in the parish of Kinglassie. Malcolm de Gatmyelk or Gatemilk, who served as a juror on inquisitions made at Perth in 1304 and 1305 (Bain, II, 1592, 1670), may be the Malcolm de Gatemylc, Gathmilk, or Gatmylch, who appears in the Register of Dunfermline in the reign of Robert I (RD., 227,235, 239,260). John Gatemylk was one of the witnesses in a dispute between James de Dundas and the abbot of Dunfermline in 1342 (ibid., 262), Robert of Gatmilke was one of those appointed to treat for the ransom of David 11 in 1357 (Fcedera, III, p. 365), and Andreas de Gatmilk was one of the inquest on the marches of Kyrknes and Louchor in 1395 (RPSA., p. 3).
