My great grandparents came to the U. S. before 1900 from Gattorna, a village in North western Italy. The name they used was Gattorn. It is just a few km from Genoa. We were always told that in their village, there were quite a few by that surname. Our relatives migrated from Italy to the US and to Argentina as the family story goes.
