GILLEMARTIN: The 'servant of Martin,' probably S. Martin of Tours, Gillemartain was a common Gaelic personal name in mediaeval times, and is especially frequent in the early Cameron genealogies, the Macmartins being one of the original septs of the clan. Gilleroth filius Gillemartin witnessed a grant of lands in Carrie in the reign of Alexander II (Melros, p. 172). Another Gillemartin was one of the assessors of the lands of Dunduff in 1231 (RD., p. 111). See under Macmartin.
