GIBBONSON: 'son of Gibbon,' which see. John Gibbounsoun was juror in Irvine in 1417 (Irvine, I, p. 20), and in 1430 and 1435 Patrick Gibbonson or Gibbounsoune, burgess of Glasgow, is mentioned in local record (LCD., p. 165,251). Roland Gilbunson (for Gibbunson) was tenant of part of Petklochery in 1443, and the lands of Murthly in Atholl were leased to Alexander Gibbunson in 1473 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 169). Angus Gibbonson, son of deceased Donald Gibbonson, broke sasine of the lands of Keilach, Strathearn, in 1468 (Athole, p. 709), and Alexander Gybbunson was tenant of Murthly in Athole, c. 1486 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 232).
