GILLETHOMAS: Gyllethomas filius Alise who had a charter of a dauath (davoch) of the land of Kennyn Mucherdyn in the territory of Kyncoldrum in 1199 from Henry, abbot of Abirbrothoc (RAA., I, p. 262) is probably Gillethoma filius Malysii, the stewerd, who witnessed the confirmation by Fergus, son of Earl Gilbert, of the earl's gift of the lands of Rathengothen to the church of Lundors before 1219 (LAC., p. 34), He also witnessed the gift by Earl Gillebertus of lands to the Abbey of Inchaffray in 1219, and confirmation charters by Robert, son of Earl Gilbert, c. 1220—24 (Inchaffray, p. 34, 36, 45). He is probably the Gillethomas, one of the assessors of the lands of Dunduff in 1231 (RD., p. 111). Three chapels in Fife (Falkland, Lumquhat, and Seamills) were dedicated to S. Thomas the Apostle.
