From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Local 'of Gillmoor,' a hamlet in the parish of Bishop Thornton, Yorkshire (a) Bapt. 'the son of Gilmoir,' Scotch. 'Gilmory or Gilmoir, servant of Mary': Yonge.

Gilamor fil. Gilandi, c. 1100: Estates and Families of Cumberland, Cumberland.

Gilamor, his cousin, ibid.

A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames (1896) by Charles Wareing Endell Bardsley

Gaelic Gille Moire, 'servant of (the Virgin) Marv.' Some time between 1133 and 1156 Gilmor, son of Gilander, founded the chapelry of Treverman (now Trierman) in the parish of Walton, Cumberland. The chapel was constructed of wattlework (capetta de virgin), and on its completion Gilmor appointed his kinsman Gillemor to the chaplaincy (Victorian history of Cumberland, II, p. 17). These names, it may be mentioned, attest the strong Gaelic influence in Cumberland at that period. Gillemor, son of Gilleconel, possessed the lands of Fincurroks in the beginning of the twelfth century (Kelso, p. 79), and some time before 1144 'Gillemor filius Gilleconel' granted a half mark of silver to the church of S. Machute in Lesmahagow (Kelso, 187). Gillemure Albanach ('the Scot') and Gillemure mac Blancard witnessed the donation of the church of Torpennoth, etc. to Holyrood by Uchtred, lord of Galloway, between 1153—65 (LSC., p. 19, 20). Gillemore vicecomes de Clacmanan witnessed the gift by Malcolm IV of a carucate of land in Melchethre to the church of St. Andrews (RPSA., p. 197); and Gillemure the deacon witnessed a charter by Symon, bishop of Stratherne (i.e. Dunblane), c. 1190 (Inchaffray, p. 1). Gillemur, senescallus Atholie, witnessed a confirmation by Henry, earl of Atholl, c. 1200 (RD., 148), and about 1190 or earlier 'Gylmor hund apud Dauwic' was a witness to the Diuise de Stobbo (REG., I, p. 89). Gillemor, son of Anecol, was witness to a charter by Gilbert, earl of Strathearn, between 1211—14 (LAC., p. 47), and another Gillemur held a toft near the lake of Lundin, Fife, c. 1250 (RPSA., p. 263). Gillemore Ruadh who witnessed a charter by Maldouen, earl of Levenax c. 1250 (Levenax, p. 98) appears in another charter of 1316 as Gillemoroch. About the same date the patronage of the church of Luss was granted to Gillemore and his father Maldouen, dean of Lennox (Levenax, p. 96, 97), and sometime before 1270 Gilmoir, servitor to Maldouen, appears as a charter witness in the Lennox (ibid., p. 20). Gillechad Gillamor witnessed a grant by Huctred, son of Fergus, of a carucate and toft in Creveqver (for Treveqver, i.e. Troqueer) to the Hospital of S. Peter of York, 1304 (Bain. II. p. 422). Thomas Gilmur, indweller in Irwin, 1572 (Irvine, I, p. 58). The late Dr. John Milne, by the process of philological gymnastics familiar to readers of his works on place names, says Gilmour is for Geol mor, which was originally Chuit mor, aspirated, cattle-fold, and mor means big. Chuit was corrupted into white, which being regarded as an English name, was turned into Gaelic by geal, white. Gilmoure 1661, Gilmure 1598.
