GILLEPATRIC: Gaelic Gillephadruig, Middle Gaelic. Gilkpadruig, 'servant of (S.) Patrick.' A serf named Gillepatric was gifted to the Abbey of Dunfermline by King David c. 1126 (RD., p. 13), Gillepatric mac Impethin is mentioned, 1150 (RD., p. 4), and Gillepatric Macanargus witnessed a Dumfries charter of Alexander II (LSC., p. 59). Gilpatr filius Malbrid, a witness c. 1250, appears again as Gillepatrik Macmalbride in a confirmation charter by Duncan filius Gillemichel Makedolf of land in the Lennox c. 1270 (Levenax, p. 85, 91). Gilpatrick Mac Gilbeg was juror on inquest on lands of Mefth, 1262 (APS., I, p. 101; Bain, I, 2323). Gillipadrick Mc Rorie, 1656 (IDR., p. 280).
