From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

From the old burgh now the city of Glasgow. John de Glasgu was chaplain of Gamelin, bishop of St. Andrews in 1258 (RPSA., p. 173), Andrew de Glasgow, escheator in 1289 (ER., I, p. 47), and John of Glasgow appears as a monk of Holyrood in 1299 (Bain, II, 1052). Payment was made to John de Glasgu in 1343 for the table of the king's servants (ER., I, p. 531), Alan Glasgw was murdered in 1494 (Trials, I, p. 19), Robert Glasgow was a witness in the burgh in 1554 (Protocols, I), and John Glasgow was creditor of Mr. William Cuninghame in 1761 (Irvine, I, p. 121). Mac Giolla-Domhnaigh (Some Anglicised surnames in Ireland, p. 25) says that this name in Ulster is an Anglicized form of McCIuskey (MacBhloscaidhe).
