A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames (1896) by Charles Wareing Endell Bardsley

According to Reaney, a reliable authority on British surnames, Glasgow is derived from the city of that name. Possibly some of the not inconsiderable number of people so called who reside in the northern counties of Ulster may be of that origin, but there is little doubt that Glasgow is also, and more usually, an anglicized form of Mac Bhloscaidh, (for which see MacCloskey) especially in Co. Tyrone, the homeland of that sept. Glasgow does not appear ever to have been used as a synonym of Glasscock, which was numerous in Co. Kildare in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. There were several officers named Glascoe in the Irish Brigade during the century following the siege of Limerick in 1691.

This appears to have been a variant of Glasscock not of Glasgow.
