GLENDONYN: The exact spot from which the surname was adopted cannot be ascertained, but it was near the coast of Ayrshire. Robert de Glendonyn obtained a confirmation grant of the lands of Glendonyn from Alexander III. for his services at the battle of Largs. The heiress married Macknyghte in the XIV. century, and the representation now vests in Coulthart.
