From the lands of Greenhead m the parish of Innerleithen, Peeblesshire. There was also a Grenheid near Kelso in 1567. In 1290 an inquest was held to determine the responsibility for the death of Robert de la Greneheued (Bain, II, 407). Cristiane del Grenehevede of the county of Selkirk rendered homage for his lands in 1296 (ibid., p. 208). His seal bears an eight-rayed figure and S' Cristiane de la Grinay (ibid., p. 552). Aymer del Greneheued served as juror on an inquisition made at Selkirk anent the sheriffdom of Selkirk in 1305 (ibid., 1681), and Huchoun de la Grenehefd was received to the king of England's peace in 1321 (ibid., III, 734). The lands were forfeited by the family in the reign of David II and were bestowed on William Broun (RMS., I, App. II, 1158, 1213). In the same reign Richard Greneheuyd or Greinhuid had a charter of certain lands in Roxburgh by the forfeiture of William Waldefield (ibid., App. II, 952).
